The dedication plaque that appeared on the bridge of the U.S.S. Defiant ® NX-74205 from the episode in which it made its debut, ‘The Search, designed for Part 1’ until it was destroyed in ‘The Changing Face of Evil.’ The plaque, designed for the show by scenic artist Mike Okuda, reveals the ship’s launch date and features the names of many members of the production department. The ship's motto, as engraved on its dedication plaque, is a quote from John Masefield: "All I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by."
